I’m Kate Maddox, owner of Babe Salon.

I’m a former Hollywood stylist turned Oregon salon owner, mom of two wild toddlers, and wife to a lovable metalhead. I was born in the Bay Area but have called Oregon home for the past 17 years.

My specialties include lived in hair color, French balayage, and natural looking grey coverage & blending.

I love ghost stories, true crime, and did I mention ghost stories?

My goal with Babe is to create a warm, safe, and inclusive space where good hair and good vibes go hand in hand. I’ve built a team of funny, kind, and talented stylists who want to be part of something special.

I’ve been behind the chair professionally since 1999, with haircutting always at the heart of my work. My background includes advanced haircutting education and teaching cutting techniques and trends to other stylists.

My approach combines strong technical structure with a visual, intuitive way of working, creating cuts that work with your texture, your style, and your real life.

I also offer Glimmerlites, hand-tied single-strand hair tinsel for a little extra sparkle.

Outside the salon, I’m usually making music with my husband for our band When We Met, working on other creative projects, or curled up with a good book or binge-worthy TV show.

Allie

I'm a razor cutting specialist with 15 years of experience in the industry. I specialize in working with fine hair with curl patterns 2a-3a. (Which means everything from straight to soft curls.) I have received professional training in the use of straight razors to create effortless air-dried shags and more. I believe in working with your hair's natural texture, rather than against it.

When I'm not at the salon, you'll find me floating the river with the girls, deep into a new book obsession, or hunting down something cute I absolutely don't need.

I’ve been doing hair for 17 years starting out in Seattle before realizing that Portland is better.  My goal is to create ease, style and longevity in every service. I love to educate my clients on how to get the most out of their hair at home. I love puzzles so bring me your challenges with your hair and we can work on it together. I love to ask questions as I go and I hope you do too. 

When I’m not behind the chair you can find me on a patio, in the river or being cozy on the couch with my dogs. Give me swimming hole recs - I won’t tell!
